Flinders Ranges : 5 Day Accommodation Tour

Experience diverse cultural and heritage places of interest, feel the land as its thousands of years old.
The native Aboriginal people called Adnyamathanha (the stone people) are the keeper of this traditional land combined with panoramic views of the Flinders Ranges is a must.

Our journey starts with your Accommodation pick up as we depart Adelaide. With our small group comfortable in our Chauffeured 4wd, we travel north wards to discover South Australia’s gateway to the Outback the Flinders Ranges along the way we see the changing landscape.

Relaxing in a chair with a gentle afternoon breeze as “You” search the sky for a majestic Wedge Tail Eagle as it soars above. Surrounding you is vast and breathtaking scenery of Flinders Ranges.

Day 1
Depart Adelaide at 8 am and travel to Wilpena Pound along the way we will stop at Quorn, one of South Australia’s historical towns for lunch. Discover Kanyaka ruins an old wheat property dating back to 1851, visit Yourumbulla caves with some excellent examples of aboriginal rock paintings, before arriving in Wilpena Pound around 4.30 pm

Day 2
With an early start we walk to the Historical Hills homestead walking via sliding rock along Wilpena creek. Wangarra Lookout will give you panoramic views of Wilpena pound. After morning tea we swap our walking shoes for the 4wd as we travel in air condition comfort to venture through Buneyroo Gorge, Brachina Gorge .We stop at the renowned Prairie Hotel at Parachilna for lunch to indulge in some”flinders feral food,”wild fruits, kangaroo fillet, emu eggs or perhaps wallaby stir fry. Continuing our tour we stop at Leigh creek coalfield, and on to our day 2 stop over, at Iga Warta Cultral centre and stay in a fixed modern tent /or motel room accommodation and enjoy country cooking and activities (B, L, D)

Day 3
Awaken to fresh clear country air and with time in the morning, enjoy one activity from a selection presented by the Adnyamathanha People. After lunch it’s of to Arkaroola via Italowie Gorge and Balcanoona after settling at our accommodation and evening dinner we view the night sky from the Arkaroola Observatory. (B, L, D)

Day 4
After breakfast the day starts with an early Ridge Top Tour, with spectacular view of this outback region. With time to explore Arkaroola centre and grab some lunch. Before heading of back through the Gammon Ranges to Blinman copper mines 1859-1908. As we journey Southwards via “Great wall of china” Stokes Hill Lookout, Cazenaux tree and return to Wilpena Pound Resort . (B, D)

Day 5
Unfortunately our time in the Flinders closes and with an early start, leads us on a picturesque drive through Moralana valley which lies between the South West wall of Wilpena Pound and the Elder Ranges. Continuing on to Hawker, Orroroo, Jamestown and with a quick light lunch, its of again via the Clare valley, arriving back in Adelaide
at approx 5.30 pm.(B,L)
